Crêchendo employee recognised at Nursery World Awards

Sue Usher, Head of Early Years and Playwork Training, Highly Commended Trainer of the Year

Sue Usher, Head of Early Years and Playwork Training at Crêchendo, one of the UK’s most respected training providers, has been Highly Commended for the Trainer of the Year award at the 2010 Nursery World Awards. Sue was acknowledged for the work she does in childcare education and development and in particular with Crechendo’s innovative Bees, Trees and Dirty Knees course, which helps practitioners and children get the most out of outdoor play.

For the last three years the Nursery World Awards has recognised and highlighted the best that is being achieved throughout the UK early years sector by organisations, teams, individuals, initiatives and equipment providers. The judging panel of 18 leading figures across the early years sector commented: “Sue challenges current practice and motivates learners to return to their settings with practical, achievable new activities. She has a particular passion for outdoor play and has developed a range of outdoor and environmental play training programmes within the EYFS requirements – including the catchily titled “Bees, Trees and Dirty Knees” – which has proved very popular.”

Sue joined Crêchendo as a Playwork Trainer in 2004, and now heads up their Early Years and Playwork training division. Philip Davies, Managing Director, Crêchendo said, “Since joining Crêchendo Sue has made an outstanding contribution to the team, consistently demonstrating her excellent training and communication skills. Responsible for developing our early years, playwork and childminding training programmes, Sue helps ensure that the training we provide is both high quality and thorough whilst being fun and engaging giving participants an outstanding experience. We are extremely pleased that she has been acknowledged by the Nursery World awards and it is very deserved.”
