Playwork
Being a Playworker is rewarding, fun and challenging.
Crêchendo offers courses and workshops underpinned by the Playwork Principles to engage and inspire those who work with children in the play environment. We run a progression of accredited Awards, Certificates and Diplomas at Level 2 and Level 3 accredited by CACHE along with a series of practical Playscheme Inset day/workshops packed with innovative ideas for outside play.
Qualifications in Playwork
Induction Award in Playwork
The Induction Award combines classroom knowledge sessions with assessment of knowledge and competence in the real work environment. This course will introduce a new Playworker to the Playwork Principles , in addition to gaining practical ideas for play too!
The award is recognised by OFSTED as adequate briefing for holiday/seasonal Playworkers.
CACHE Level 2 and 3 Award Certificate & Diploma in Playwork
Crêchendo is accredited by CACHE to offer this highly flexible series of qualifications to suit the needs of Playworkers.
The level 2 and 3 Award Certificate and Diploma help you enhance your knowledge of children’s play and development. The Award, Certificate and Diploma offer a stepping stone approach to gaining a nationally recognised qualification whilst continuing to practice in a Playwork setting. You can move through the Award to the Certificate and then to the Diploma, building up the units as you go.
Level 2 is designed for those new to Playwork and/or with some experience, working under supervision.
Level 3 is for Playworkers with additional responsibility or more experience and assists in developing the management skills specific to working with Playworkers.
Assessment of knowledge and competence will include case studies, reflective diary written tasks and observation in the real work environment

Inset Days and Short Courses
Crêchendo plan programmes using a range of learning experiences; once we understand your specific requirements, learner needs and group size, we will be able to quote the cost of the programme tailored to your needs.
Here are some of the inset days we deliver for those in Playwork:
- “Bees, Trees and Dirty Knees!”
A practical and inspiring workshop. Participants will explore the outdoor play environment and make the most of natural resources. Embracing the EYFS principles of Outdoor Play the content will be adapted to suit all weather conditions, including sun safety and also making the most of winter elements.
- Transform Your Urban Play Space
Concrete play spaces may appear uninspiring and dull. This practical workshop will explore howntroducing fire, water, earth and air can enhance a seemingly limited environment.
